About

Welcome to the GIS Forum!

Our goal here at The GIS Forum is to give GIS users a place to teach, learn, and explore the geospatial community in an interactive and social atmosphere.

Check on the latest happenings from around the net in our Community Mashup, participate in a discussion in the community Forum or add some information in the Wiki - just be social!

Come explore, learn, and contribute today! As always, if there is a topic you wish to discuss that is not currently available, please contact us here or use the "Feedback" widget on the right-hand side bar to suggest something that you would like to see in the site.

Please keep in mind that this site is still a beta which means that we will be using your feedback to modify and enhance the layout and content groupings!

Regards,

The GIS Forum Team

Matt Faulkner

I am the owner of The GIS Forum, but this has been a Team effort during the setup phase of the site.  What started out as a Twitter post "where's the best kick ass GIS/Spatial user forum? Is there one? Anyone want to get a group together and start one (if there isn't one)".  Now, I would like to think that we have one of those.  As a GIS Professional, I will bring my experience to the community.  With the support of others in the community, my goal is to make The GIS Forum the 'go to' place for Geospatial information and collaboration.

Adam Estrada

A geospatial professional who enjoys interacting with folks that share the same desire to learn more about the world around them through the use of geospatial information. What started as a simple conversation in Twitter has evolved in to what you see here! I have a background in GIS and Remote Sensing and have worked in a variety of different roles which include, product support, professional services, sales, and product development. I really hope to see geo-nerds everywhere use The GIS Forum as a way to exchange knowledge about what it is we all do every day! Cheers...

Timothy Hales

I am a geospatial technology fanatic. I get paid to play with GIS and unfortunately for my wife, I have also made it my hobby. She deals with it and nods her head as I ramble about "nothing". I enjoy helping others learn about GIS while providing aids to help them advance professionally as you can see by personal site: GIS Pathway. If you want to learn a bit more about me, visit my profile page.

Although this community began with a simple Twitter conversation, it is becoming the greatest GIS Community available anywhere. I hope that you enjoy The GIS Forum and if there is anything that I can do please let me know.

Dylan Hettinger

I'm just another geospatial analyst helping build an online community other enthusiasts! We want this to be an easy place of networking, collaboration, and information-exchange so if you see something you want, let one of us know! I've been working with GIS reguarly since I was a wee lad in college figuring out how to load a shapefile until now, a full-scale GIS Analyst trying to figure out how to load a shapefile. Hop over to my profile page for more info on any projects I might be working through. Enjoy the site!
